Rachael Kilgour: Memorial Tour

Rachael Kilgour: Memorial Tour

Canadian-American songwriter Rachael Kilgour returns to Ontario this month with a run of shows to promote her new record, "My Father Loved Me". Written in memory of her late Ontarian father, the album was recorded at Toronto's Union Sound with help from producer Rose Cousins, engineer Chris Stringer and an impressive roster of all-star Canadian musicians.

In chronicling her dad's life, death, trials and triumphs, Kilgour attempts to make amends with her memories, her emotional inheritance and her own mortality. She carefully carves out meaning and belonging in the wake of the death of an ordinary working man. The songs are serious but cleverly crafted, and Kilgour's stage presence is disarming and often surprisingly comedic.

Songwriter Ian Fisher will join Kilgour for a number of the performances, sharing work inspired by the recent loss of his own mother. More than a concert, their joint performance is an invitation to find connection in our loneliest moments.
