Brian Tremblay is releasing his first concept album since his musical reinvention of himself four years ago. The Neighbourhood: Songs and Stories of a Blue Collar Raising will be released on May 16 on Morningstar Records at the same time as his Signature Concert.
The concert is an audio/visual performance that features a series of photographs that Tremblay created of some of his memorable landmarks of the blue-collar neighbourhood of Sault Ste Marie called Steelton. The photographs were created using a vintage twin-lens reflex camera and black-and-white film that he developed and printed in his darkroom. While he performs the images that inspired the songs on the new album are projected onto the stage. Giving a fully immersive experience. Tremblay performed The Neighbourhood show last year and sold out the concert.
This album will also be his first on Morningstar Records. The label was started by indie artist Mike Haggith based out of Barrie, Ontario. The two connected after Tremblay interviewed him for his podcast and Haggith often plays Sault Ste Marie since this is where he became a pilot at Sault College. They have performed together in the past. Tremblay was honoured and thrilled when Haggith asked him to be a part of the Morningstar Collective.
